Coming out of the dark world and enlightened by the light of education, I want to work for the improvement of the living standards of the slum dwellers. I want to be a doctor so that slum dwellers don’t die for lack of treatment.
I am Rita Akter, Student of class-02. I live in Pora bosti slum. My mother works from house to house. I didn’t study before and I used to roam the streets with slum boys and girls. The unsanitary environment in our slums is prone to infection and many people die due to lack of treatment. I always wanted to be a doctor only because slum dwellers don’t have to die for lack of treatment. Some sir and mams of Chayatal Bangladesh used to come to our slum, they visited the slums and talked to the families of underprivileged children like us, making the slum people aware of the importance of education. A sir saw me and asked if I went to school. I replied with sorrow that I never went to school. Then they discussed to my family and admitted me to “Chayatal Bangladesh”.
