Today's children are
tomorrow's future. Today's children will play an important role and contribute
to the development of the country in the future. To make a child a worthy
citizen, the family and social rights of the child must be ensured first. But
street children of the country are neglected, abused, underprivileged and far
away from the light of education. But education is the backbone of a nation. A
large proportion of street children are illiterate. They are begging and
selling flowers at the age when they are supposed to have books and pens. Or
being forced to take up the tools of hard labor. They are engaged in this risky
work to provide food for themselves or their families. The question may arise
as to who created this difference. Discriminatory society has created this
difference. The street children of Bangladesh are a part of the 1.2 billion
street children around the world. A large number of children who are on the
streets in search of life and livelihood are constantly being neglected. A child
who was supposed to have a book in hand was supposed to excel in sports, a
large part of them are today struggling in life.
Since March 2016, the
organization has been running the ‘Street Child Education Program’ for socially
disadvantaged children. The education scheme is conducted on four campuses
daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on its own syllabus. Chayatal Bangladesh provides
free education and educational materials like school bags, uniforms, shoes,
etc. The organization is trying to bring underprivileged children back into the
mainstream of society. Volunteers are managing the project on time.
Campus 1:
In 2016, Chayatal Bangladesh started its first activities by providing education to a small number of underprivileged street children in the shade of trees at Shyamoli Park ground. As a result of the increasement in the number of these children, Chayatal Bangladesh's first campus was built. Now it is situated at Johuri Moholla, Shyamoli in Dhaka, where children are provided free education, treatment, food, clothing, etc. So far 70 children are being initiated in various self-reliance activities like: mobile servicing, computer training, sewing machine training, etc. along with studies.
Campus 2:
We work for street children, there are no educational
institutions around the area where Campus Two is located and most of the people
are working class so their children are deprived of education. The volunteers
of Bangladesh came to know about the educational disadvantage of children in
BGB Market Gabtali while conducting campaigns in different areas to areas,
slums to slums with the conviction that "we do not want a single child to
grow up on the streets", the first step was taken to establish Campus-02
there. Currently, 62 students are studying on this campus and the number of
students is increasing day by day.
Campus 3:
After the success of Campus 1 and 2, we can feel that in the heart of Dhaka city, amidst the labyrinth of narrow alleys, countless underprivileged children remain neglected by the light of education. We keep our campaign uninterrupted, and following the same principle, we find at Rayarbazar numerous disadvantaged children who are deprived of the light of education, engage in selling flowers, water bottles, tea, and other items. Most of them do not have parents at home, as they either work as rickshaw pullers, or vegetable vendors or engage in household chores in others' homes. There is no one to take care of them properly. Campus-3 was built there with the efforts of Chayatal Bangladesh to provide educational light to these children. At present, 63 students are studying and we are determined to give them a bright future.
HBB-CHAYATAL LITERACY CENTER (Campus-4)
We are determined not to cease our efforts.
Our goal is to extend education to the doorstep of every underprivileged child,
aiming to transform children into assets rather than burdens. If we can
liberate even one child from the shackles of illiteracy, that will be our
success. With this mission in mind, the fourth campus of Chayatal Bangladesh
has been established in Mohammadpur Chand Uddyan. Currently, the campus,
hosting 55 students, operates under the supervision of the HBB Chayatal
Literacy Centre.
